Bioluminescence is one of nature’s most breathtaking phenomena. The mesmerizing blue glow that lights up the ocean at night comes from tiny organisms called phytoplankton. When these microscopic creatures are disturbed by waves or movement in the water, they emit a soft, magical light that transforms the sea into a glowing spectacle. This beautiful display is best seen on dark, clear nights when the water is calm.
Bioluminescence is best seen on nights with little to no moonlight, such as during a new moon. The darker the night sky, the more vivid and striking the blue glow appears in the water. During a full moon, the bright moonlight can overpower the glow, making it harder to see. So, for the most breathtaking bioluminescent experience, it’s ideal to go when the sky is darkest and the sea is calm.
Kindly note: Please ensure your booking date falls during a period of no moonlight for the best bioluminescence experience. If there is moonlight, the trip will instead begin at 5:00 AM and end at 7:00 AM.
